Phew…It has been a busy 2017 for ‘Ohana Oasis.

You are part of a vibrant, active, and growing organization!  Thank you for opening your hearts and lives to healing the hearts of bereaved parents.  And if you are one of our ‘ohana of parents, thank you for your courage to find healing and purpose; making something meaningful out of tragedy.

We kicked off the year with a couple fundraisers then jumped right into our first retreat of 2017.

Spring Fling

In March our Portland ‘ohana held a Spring Fling, Open House event. With almost 100 people joining the fun, we had a great time eating tasty food, bidding on amazing auction items, and listening to alumni parents Mark and Jenny Piscitelli share the impact ‘Ohana Oasis has had in their lives.

All told, the generosity of our Portland area ‘ohana brought in over $8,000 towards future retreats. Thank you to everyone who participated!!

If you’d like to host an Open House in your home or a venue in your area drop me a note.  I’d love to work with you! Just email me at

Golf in Paradise

Next up was our first official fundraiser on Kaua’i! Based on the suggestion of ‘Ohana Oasis alum, Christian Webb, we hosted a “Golf in Paradise Tournament”.

It was played at Princeville at Makai Club, Kaua’i’s award winning golf course. The event was a smashing success because of a dedicated group of about 20 volunteers who brought in sponsors, got the word out, prepared food and decorations, and worked their hearts out during the event.

Retreat Time

All of this fundraising work culminated with a retreat May 1-8th! For the first time ever ‘Ohana Oasis hosted eight mothers who came together to share their path to healing and rediscovering joy. The experience is best captured by the participants:

“Feeling incredibly blessed to have had the honor to be part of this group.  I have found life and inspiration to carry forward. Hurting hearts and become healing hearts.” -Kane’s Mom

“(‘Ohana Oasis) is a profound experience in SO many ways…I can’t express enough gratitude for this gift!” – Hayley’s Mom

Our waiting list of parents continues to grow and now tops out over 120!  If you or someone you know wants to help make it possible for one of the 120+ parents to attend a retreat you can donate here or mail checks to P.O. Box 758, Kilauea, HI 96754
